Gojet does not like pilots taking military leave, FMLA leave for one's own medical condition, FMLA leave for a family member, or getting hurt on the job. Their normal response is or was to immediately terminate the pilot so they are not paying medical bills to a pilot and his family who are currently not producing. It also makes it tough for an unemployed pilot to pay legal fees.

In one of their court filings they argued that terminating a pilot because he was actually using his medical insurance was a valid and allowed way to keep their health care costs down. They basically said that as long as they fired all the pilots who used or their families used their medical benefits, then they were not violating the law. They did not say what the threshold figure was but in the case they argued that, there had not been any medical expenses incurred but they though there would be in the future. A company could put a limit in but with a CBA I would assume they would need that in the contract and agreed to ahead of time. I will find the exact Gojet argument from their filing.
