Yup. We have systematically added things to do during taxi out for flexibility. RNAV runway change and verification, WDR entry and verification, second engine start to free up the ATL ramp and reduce dwell time. It used to be heading and altitude and if you had a runway change normal TO power and off you go.
Add complexity while reducing taxi times. And they wonder why there’s a spike in errors during that phase of flight. Brilliant!
