My opinion is we should have the taxi checklist tasks completed at the gate (WDR received) on push (set flaps). Do a quick FTL CTRL check, then call taxi. Get both pilots heads up.
CAL did it and United adapted.
I don't think it would work with latency initiative here at DAL.
