In very big threads like TOTD or that DAL Latest and Greatest Mother of All Threads, posts that are deleted either by the poster or a Mod will keep its physical place in the thread, but will not be visible to anyone but the Mods. The page numbers, however, continue to increase because the posts are literally still there.

So when you get to the latest post, it probably is not on the last page.
