If you have no 3P’s, only 3D’s or nothing at all, on your 3*, and you get displaced, you’re eligible for the vol. freeze (so long as you send in the request within 14 days of the award).
Say there’s enough 3P’s, or junior 3D’s, and you don’t get displaced. Then you can proffer to displace (using your seniority if same equipment or the junior pilot seniority of the pilot who would’ve been displaced. So whatever that pilot can hold, you can get.)
So if that pilots seniority is 2000, and the most junior 175 displaced pilot was 1900, then you wouldn’t be awarded the 175. (Someone chime in if this is incorrect)
You can still vol. for the training freeze if you’re awarded a different status due to the proffer to displace. You just won’t get company paid moving expenses.
If you’re a 145 or CRJ pilot and really want the 175, safest bet is to just 3P.
