You know what? You’re right. I looked more carefully. When you click on fleet and the aircraft pops up there are bullets or dots you can hover over or click on and more info comes up. The “Cargo” one brings up a top down view of the aircraft profile with cans.

I used to load airplanes for UPS and it reminded me of the cans we used to load in the main cabin. We loaded the bellies by hand(box by box), at least in the airplanes I loaded. So, without really carefully looking at it I imagined it being similar to the airplanes I used to load. I thought that they were showing an airplane that was fully configured for cargo.

I can admit when I’m wrong. It’s been a whirlwind for me getting apps out since I got laid off recently(totally unexpected btw). I’ve had an interview and an offer but nothing yet that will pay what I was making or near what I was making. Honestly, I didn’t even know Omni existed more than a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been cramming to get up to speed with all of the 121 operators other than majors and regionals(I’m familiar with most of those). I think when I read that Omni was acquired by ATSG my brain linked them in with the other cargo operators too and when I started this thread, well...I screwed it up.

So, no I don’t know much about Omni and I’d love to know more because it sounds like it could be a good job. I’ve done similar schedules in the 135 world and I used to always think that if I was going to be out flying and away from home anyway I might as well be flying around the world seeing new places.

I do think my background starting with flying night cargo in old twins without autopilots at night, to flying charter and Part 91 in jets with lots of PIC, lots of dealing with passengers, and a decent amount of international/Class II would be a good start for a right seater in a 76 for an operation like Omni. It would still be a challenge and I’d be up for it, in fact I’d revel in that.

I still have 20 good years to put into a 121 job if I can find one. I’m working on that, and as you’ve pointed out, I’m going to have to work harder. I’ll try again armed with more info next time.
