Economics to UPS is one thing and to the ACMIs another. Trust me, I am currently flying a -200 that still sports the UPS tail number and it was retired about 2 years ago.
Retired from the fleet, given back to the owner(lease bird) or retired from service, parked in the desert. If memory serves, the -200's, some were long termed lease and given back to the owners, they did not want to extend the leases on UPS's terms so they flew away.
