This is what I predict. AS management won’t negotiate a contract. They’ll wait until the existing contract has expired 3-4 years and take advantage of the cost savings that other airlines that gave pay and work rules improvements to other airlines don’t have. Then they’ll just let the NMB arbitrate and basically you’ll have this some contract again with everyone claiming that they’ll “get them next time”.
I predict that the pilots will keep on picking up open time, flying fatigued, overlooking maintenance discrepancies etc... during the whole process. All the while claiming that their union is weak and wasting their dues or that “their union speaks for them.”
