Until people start following the checklist and callouts, we will never get out of the demonstration phase. The FAA isn’t going to let us just keep using the 1600RVR. I’m surprised they’ve given us this long when the average is 6 months to remove the 1600 limitation.
If it were that simple..... our callouts suck. Designed by someone who doesn’t fly the line. Try doing those callouts on a busy day and still effectively work the radio. Too much ******ing chatter in the callouts.
Our latest attempt to fix the problem is just a bandaid. The FAA is simply letting us adjust our program. And, you are right, a properly designed CAT II procedure would be passed by the FAA in 6 months. And, the demonstration phase buys you 200 feet of visibility over CAT I. The FAA is pretty safe in letting us stay in the demonstration phase forever.
It won’t surprise me we lose all or part of the first 30 Ejets over it. I have already diverted over the difference between 1400 and 1600.
