I stand by the post ..................

The USAir east guys got the short end of the stick in this merger imho, but they did agree to binding arbitration. But their situtuation is for them to deal with and not us. Not you or I.

1 Seat, weren't you the one who said "I have no sympathy for the USAir East guys" and also said "the Majority of Airline Pilots feel No sympathy towards them either".

That is what I take exception to.

I will assume you are an Airforce guy that got lucky and got hired recently by SWA?

You probably had a few squadron Buds who were SWA capts and maybe LCA that got your application put in the right stack?

Good on you because lately getting hired at a major is all about networking.

I 'll make a further assumption that by being a SWA pilot many of your Jumpseater guests are USAir West guys (former AWA)? They certainly have their own opinions on how the merger went, but most will (secretly tell you they made out better than they thought) Notice I said better than they thought, not made out how they wanted. So if my assumption is correct, your Jumpseater guests have a more personal and biased opinion. They hardly represent the majority of us.

Saying stuff like "They (USAir east guys) should be happy to have a job", just doesn't bode well. This industry is hard and very few of us that have been in it a while have experienced a non turbulent ride.

The USAir Pilots have a long history in mergers and have fought hard to make this career (YOUR career) a better one. Until very recently (post 9/11) they were near the top tier in pay and benefits and at 1 time were at the top.
They have stumbled hard and lost much of what they fought for. This merger business, Is it your or my fault? NO. Just cut em some slack as they have had a pretty rough go of it and I hope none of us have to go through what they did.

UAL, DAL and NWA aren't to far behind them.

Plain and simple, mergers suck, and hopefully you won't have to experience one, but if you have 20 years left in your career you chances of experienceing one first hand are greater than not. More mergers are in store for all of us I am afraid.
