Tried to pick up a trip off of another pilots line. He was trying to drop due to family event.
Denied due to 'taking him below 50hrs'.
I would have flown his trip, he would have gotten off, and then (probably) picked something else up later.
The 50hrs limit was (and still is) BS.
I get that an 'employee' is hired to work. Someone dropping down to zero yet still getting company paid benefits is (kinda) outside the intent of the system.
But at the end of the day, this limit hurt us.
Pleasantly surprised and glad that the Union & Company found a solution.
