Agreed this makes a big difference, but living in base is not an option for everyone (spouse, kids, etc).

One issue with MKE and CAE, neither is usually commutable. Depending on where you live, you should plan on using your off days to travel to and from work. ORD is better for commuting, but it will be close to 9-12 months or more before you are a lineholder (but you can hold reserve there right away).
