I went to the meet in LAX and had the first session, which was 10am. There was 20 pilots that attended and 3 chiefs. I have a corporate part 91 background and although there was one other corporate guy there, the remaining attendees were skywest pilots mixed in with 2-3 Mesa guys. They started the presentation by flat out stating that this is not an interview, nor are we being evaluated in any way. We went around the room and introduced ourselves along with a general description of our background. The chiefs then went right into about an hour company presentation followed by Q & A. It was very informal and even the chiefs were cracking a few jokes. Although most of everyone showed up in a suit and tie, I'm not sure it was necessary. Even the chiefs were wearing nothing more than casual. After the Q & A session, they told us that this is our time to meet with them one on one and hand them a resumè. I was able to talk with all 3 chiefs for about 5-10 minutes a piece. They asked very basic background questions , i.e failed checkrides, will anything pop up on a background check? Kind of thing. They said that formal interviews will pick back up in about a month and that class dates are full through February. They said that Spirit is no longer doing job fairs and that this will become the normal first step in getting that interview. I brought my log book along with a list of references and letters of recommendation. They told the group, that today they will only be accepting the resumè and to hold anything and everything else for the actual interview. I've been reading these gouges like it's my job the last month or so, so I hope this information is able to help someone else out.
Thank you man! I’ll be in LAX tomorrow for the event. Much appreciated.
