I was perplexed by this poorly thought out “joke” as well. I guess I took it as he was implying that should he need to apply at Spirit as a first officer that his life had taken a drastic turn for the worst? As if he could just apply for a highly technical and demanding job that requires years of training and prior experience to even be considered for. I found it very weird and extremely unprofessional. They do know we listen to these calls right? His “joke” came off as wildly out of touch, which now that I think of it everybody who participates in those earnings calls probably is.
