It may have back in the day when there was a vision and they were fighting to survive. Now the company is doing fine financially and there is no vision. Who are we what are our goals how will we achieve those goals? There is a void in even basic leadership. This leads to the why should I and what is the point. This is just another example of a failure on management.

If they actually came out and said look this helps (you would need real) profit sharing and helps our (you would need real) growth they might be able to do it but as you said now it creates and us vs them, helpers and no helpers and that’s not good.

But since they can’t admit to being wrong they double down.
