I'm sure the training backlog will be gone some day, but who knows when. Everyone hired in the last two years was told that all of the bottlenecks were about to be worked out and the training pipeline would be moving a lot faster. Every time, some other problem pops up and nothing gets better. The company is either lying, or legitimately fails at every opportunity. I honestly don't know which, but there's
always another excuse in their pocket.
Whether it's lying or just incompetence, recruiting has figured out they can tell every interviewee that the training is getting better, and there will be no repercussions when it doesn't happen.
But to answer your question, there are still pilots from the March Indoc in training.

The bid award that becomes effective January 2019 has 87 FO slots total. There are already 70 CLT FOs on the line. There are over 150 pilots still in training that will get to choose a base before any new hire does.
Keep in mind, CLT is currently full just with FOs that were at the company before the CLT base was announced, people that were in PHL or headed to PHL and decided to move to CLT. And because PHL FOs continue to trickle over to CLT, there hasn't been much upward movement on the CLT FO list.
Most of the 150+ pilots currently in training came here after the CLT base was announced. So, it's fair to expect that many, if not most, of them came here with the intent to bid CLT. The company needs to open a
lot more CLT lines just to accommodate those guys/girls.
So, how long would it take you to hold CLT? Who knows. It depends on how many more CLT slots the company opens up, how many more PHL FOs switch to CLT, and how many of the 150+ pilots in training came here for a CLT base.
Considering how small our CLT footprint is, how many people are still in training, and the fact that the company has said they don't expect to grow anymore, coming to PDT today is a risky endeavor. Expect higher upgrade times and a lot more reserve time at your base of choice, if you even get your base of choice.
