Most of the people applying for the DEC program come from an operator with a traditional licensed dispatch department. PSI doesn't have that. So from going from a place where all the paperwork and planning is done for you to a place where it's squarely on your shoulders and everything changes on the fly is a hard adjustment for most to make. typically is folks from a dispatched 135 or 121 operation so there is a learning curve. I will say however that a minority of DEC candidates have come through with high time but backgrounds that don't necessarily help with the DEC process. Flight school department heads, Cirrus taxi drivers, or other similar places and they think that this is some easy PC-12 gig. They did not respond to the wakeup call or pace of training.

The training is quality, and even they are disappointed in their $2mil procedures trainer, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that theres an issue with the training department. They're not a pilot mill and don't baby the cadidates coming in. If you cant hack it, you cant hack it.
