For the person who said they don't want to be on reserve at a 121 main line carrier, realize that it will be temporary at an airline, while it will be reserve ON STEROIDS for your entire career at NJA.

This is the best hiring environment in the history of aviation. Choose wisely.
I don't want to commute and want 7 planned days off to do what I want to do without having a 3 day then 4 off then 5 day block of reserve, I got buddies on year 7 at American who work 5 days a month but they still sit reserve for 12 more day blocks not able to do anything but "sit reserve", no plans etc(they all get ****ed when they get called and freak out when the phone rings). I am not taking my phone and a uniform with me everywhere I go even if I lived close enough to drive in. Unless you have been at a major for 12 years your not holding 18 days off a month! And now that they are getting short on pilots there working is picking up signifigantly!
I don’t think there is a right or wrong, I know kids in my reserve unit who got hired at 27 with Delta, they will be millionares at 40, I just got other priorities that NJA gives me the paid time off for without stress of a commute! It’s definitly more work with some stuff here but to Each his own!
