The sun rises in the northeast and sets in the northwest. The route to Hong Kong From SFO starts out heading NW. If the flight departed in the morning the sun would be out the right window. The route heading into Hong Kong finishes heading SW, so the sun setting in the NW would also be out the right window. I'm assuming you're not a pilot, so google "great circle route" to understand why the route appears to be a curved line.
