I suppose the real question is, if Express Jet can't fill seats in training classes as is then why would having 175's (that'll probably go senior) change much? Maybe, it is because CommutAir can handle staffing the 145’s and by placing the 175’s at Xjet, United hopes that Xjet’s attrition will slow down. United doesn’t want to lose regional pilots, particularly from a recruiting source. A case in point were the 200’s brought online at Xjet.
I am just speculating. Who really knows SkyWest’s and United’s plans....
