But to your point, it IS an oversight IMO. After working for this company for a few years now, I don’t put any cost saving measure past them.

I get the feeling our NC wasn’t as thorough as they needed to be in some areas and this was a question that was meant to help me validate or disprove that belief. If other airlines stipulate the company will pay for new hire hotels it’s one benefit that helps recruit individuals that might otherwise not apply to a place that doesn’t. I just hope that we start providing that benefit whether it’s spelled out in the contract or not. I’ve talked to several people in the past that would be great hires that refused to apply because of a hokey caveat like having to pay for their own lodging during training.
