ALPA has filed a lawsuit against PCL management over a new hire bonus program management implemented in order to get pilots to come here. The lawsuit contends management has changed the "status quo", by changing pay rates for new hires without consent of the union. If ALPA is sucessful with this law suit and a Federal Court maintains that management has indeed changed the "status quo", there is precedent set that would immediately release ALPA to self help (strike) without being released by the National Mediation Board. I'm not saying this will happen, but it is a possibility. I am sure management would immediately file for an injunction to prevent this while the case was appealed. We will see what happens. Our 99.3% strike vote certainly shows the pilots are unified and willing to strike if needed.
