The thing about Alaska is it is a workin’ mans/womens airline. If you credit 80hrs here you block 80 hrs. A straight numerical comparison would show we lag the major airline narrow body pay by 10-15%. The only accurate comparison is a W2/ block/tafb/credit comparison. I have diligently done this with a group of airline friends at the 6 big airlines for many years. We are 30% behind the closest and 45% behind the furthest. The only benefit that some of us have is a real retirement. The vast majority just have a 401K tax deferred savings plan. Wide body FO friend has always out earned/ under blocked me by a good margin. Capt friend at Brown laps me by 45% and under blocks me by 20%....3 capt friends at LUV take me by 30% while being 1o-15% under block. No question in the comparison that matters....leaving for a major will pay dividends. And if you are a traveler and go to one of the 3 major international airlines you have travel benefits. Most vocal Alaska guys have strong ties to the airline. For me the pension is the sole tie. Hard to beat it.
