“Months and months” may be a little stretch. The company wants you fully line qualified ASAP. Plan to be on the training schedule for at least 2-3 months.

“Training backlog” is when you complete your company indoc and sim training and are awaiting IOE. You get paid to sit at home and call every night to see if the next day is a duty day.
