Las Vegas 25L is just another one of those quirky arrivals that is non standard. Approach keeps you high and tells you to go fast to the marker (and never tells you to slow down by the way) so you have to throw the gear out to 12 miles out etc.
I land on 25L on a nearly daily basis and have for the last 3 years. Unless there is a traffic conflict, you are always at 8000 over Prino. If they can't clear you for the visual for some reason, they will almost always step you down to 6500 by Larre and clear you by Larre.
You are just about always slowed to 170 at or shortly after Larre (14 out) and told to keep 170 until 7 dme.
