I don't think it was the initial cadre making it difficult but rather:

1) Pilots coming from 20+ years on "the Whale" and never having been through an AQP training program much less any initial qual program in the last 15-20 years; and/or

2) Those pilots not having flown Airbus before; and/or

3) Some being torqued that they didn't get awarded a training bypass and therefore "rage quit" which didn't help to make for a conducive training environment either.

Granted the initial A330 to A350 footprint was a bit aggressive but hey, I guess you gotta start somewhere.

In the end, the 350 is just another Airbus with an integrated EFB and much nicer displays (but a relatively low MTOGW that restricts its range).
