The simple explanation: either one knows a lot less about PBS than they think they do or they're junior and tried getting a line by waiving some contractual rights.
I only have 10 days of work in a row this year; I think I had something like 15 days in a row in a previous year over the holidays. I understand why that happens and don't need to start a new thread over the subject. YMMV.
On the bright side, it cuts down on the need to commute during the busiest time of the year.
