The last two fleets gone were practically overnight. So much so that many pilots stayed home for over a year before being retrained. It happened in the recent past and can happen again.
The 72 and the DC-8 were complete dinosaurs, plus we did not need the lift like we do today. Even if we don’t grow at all going forward, we are still behind. It will take a few years, until we get all the new planes delivered for the company to re-evaluate lift capacity.
Plus, dump 37 MD’s right now that other ACMI’s can scoop up and use against us, that’s another factor to consider. Although, I will admit, I don’t know if our management thinks that far ahead and that strategically.
If we go by that logic, of course ANYTHING can happen at anytime.
