Brian Shul, is a very interesting guy if you ever get to meet him. He crashed in some kind of AF prop airplane and was burned very bad, to the point the doctors said he would not live through the night. He had a bad nurse who was treating him poorly, when he asked her what the doctor said, she told him he wasn't going to make it through the night. He said his drive to live, was just to make this old nurse work harder and do her job.
As you can see; he made it through the incident and went on to fly the SR-71. While he was in the AF he used to go around and give lectures on the use of survival gear and how it worked in his crash, that is where I met him.
My wife met him, when he was giving lectures, to the new nurses in San Antonio, on patient sensitivity.
