Because cleaning an airplane is beneath the profession, as stated by the union. Also, menial jobs such as cleaning are a union/labor busting tactic. Watch the video.

If you want to say bye or something pilot related, then cool. Cleaning? Not pilot related. Maybe instead of cleaning seatbacks you could clean the flight deck since it’s not ever cleaned by cleaners. Then at least you are helping pilots with your janitorial services.
