Hire the highest experienced and qualified applicant that you can. If they all turn out to be from one particular group, then so be it. I really don’t care what that group is. Just get rid of the double standard. The minimums shouldn’t be at one level for one person, and another for someone else. We seem to want equality, but don’t want to give up certain carve outs that have been established. Let’s either have one standard, or at least be open and say we want to hire X from this group and Y from another.
So, to make sure I understand what you're inferring, are you saying that qualification don't matter? And that there is a sliding scale? In 2019? If so, please provide facts to back that up. To my knowledge, no one is getting bumped up for being Black, Gay, or a Woman. If you DO get more points for being a member of one of these organizations, perhaps it's because Airlines have vetted what said organizations do, and give credit in the "well rounded person" area.
Your resume speaks volumes about you. Saying you're a member of ANY organization, and ran some type of youth program SHOULD get you some extra points.
That's just my opinion, but please let me know so that I can tell all the minorities and women stuck at regionals when I commute... That they just need to include a picture or something because there is a sliding scale, and qualifications don't matter. If, that's in fact what you're saying. Which would explain why all of the new hire class pictures are full of nothing but minorities and women, right?
