Actually there are, ANA has an Airline called "The Fair" out of Sendai and "J-Air flies for JAL both with CRJ's
There is also the HACS contract with Dash 8-400's out of Osaka, and numerous F-22's flying in and around Okinawa. I was in Sapporo maybe three weeks ago and parked next to us was two or three Slaab 340's.

Anyway, the original poster is probably just has his PPL.
