If your story is true (taken with a grain of salt on an anonymous internet forum), you should certainly be proud of your accomplishments. But you should not disparage everyone behind you who didn't get the breaks you did. All successful people got breaks along the way, regardless of where they started from. And to act as though anyone who didn't get those breaks simply "didn't want it enough" or "didn't work hard enough" is the height of hubris.
Someone had to be the first.
I would say that all industry, to include the airline industry has had many firsts...…….

I guess I got a break when the USAF recruiter said welcome aboard and told me I was good enough to fix airplanes.
All of the glass ceilings are broken. They were broken a long time ago.
Any sort of leveling of the playing field is now simply reverse discrimination. Time to move on and hire the best of the best.
MLB doesn't hold try outs. They don't hold open house.
You want to go to college? show up with good ACT and SAT scores.
You want to go into the USAF as an officer? Show them your AFOQT score.
It's just numbers.
Make the grade. Simple actually.
