Maybe I am being a bit harsh, but I can live with that.
I don't like scabs. At a close second behind them is someone who has a special...."whatever category" and used that to get hired.
The company can promote whatever culture it wants to. I don't promote culture. Nor do I discourage it. I generally don't talk about race, politics, sexual orientation, or religion on my airplanes. It's a good rule of thumb. We want to be personable, without being too personal.
If it's a good rule for Airline Captains' then it should be a good rule for the Airline's HR and recruiting department. Taken a step further, the airline would be SMART not to attend, promote, or recruit at any such events that promote politics, race, religion, or sexual orientation.
I would be in full support of holding a "GENERIC" recruiting event that is void of any reference to any sort of gender, race, religion, or sexual whateverism.
