For every FO that uses the speedbrake, I've got 2 CAs that will open descent and level off 6-9 miles before the next required altitude change. There are sh1tty pilots in both seats. Don't take it personal.
I do both of those things, because I literally don't give a $hit about fuel conservation. What's easy for ME? How can I put in as little effort and still be safe? Those are the questions I ask. You want me to care about profits?
