With 4 regionals and United having a crew base in IAH, what do you think of the feasability / practicality / profitability of buying a house near the airport and renting the individual bedrooms out to IAH-based crewmembers? I can only speak with what I know in LAS and DTW. I don’t know of any pilot who has their own room and use it full time or part time. most will try to find the cheapest crash pad or use hotels when needed. If they are moving to base and not commute they will find their own house/condo/apartment vs just renting a room. You’re better off turning into a real crash pad with 2 or 3 beds in one room. Also how is transportation to and from the airport? That is a make or break for some, since most pilot doesn’t have a car at the crash pad.
