As long as the pilots leaving are causing captain openings, it doesn’t matter in the scheme of recruiting new hires. Once upgrade times drop (upgrades are street captains at Envoy), then new hires will come. ExpressJet could do what some other regionals are doing by making an upgrade available to anyone once 1,000 hours 121 time is reached. Then, upgrade times will match the lowest in the industry.
XJT is a unique regional. Very small and a lot of VERY senior people that still have 6-8 years left. They will undoubtedly stick it out to 65. At least the legacy ASA guys. They’re going no where.
Can’t have growth without FOs. Attracting FOs requires growth or real upgrades. I feel like XJT is toast sometimes.
