Great thread. My .02: Those that want to bail at the first opportunity please do so. There is a good chance people who are adamant about this probably wear their uniforms in a sloppy fashion and don’t represent the airline well anyway. Nobody should hold back another pilot from leaving but I kinda think it is nice for one of us to say goodbye. I need to start doing it more myself.
I get a kick out of all the Delta comparisons. If we had our largest hub in a “right to work” state along with our headquarters there I’m sure we would be more profitable as well. We don’t. Our hubs are in very expensive cities and therefore we need to work harder at being reliable and stepping up our customer service if we ever really aim to narrow that gap. Our employees, absent a very small percentage are unionized. I’m proud of that. I have no desire to emulate “Delta’s Airline”. I want us to be more profitable and our checks to reflect that every February.
