But as others have said, I wouldn't even think about it until you start instrument training. In your PPL training, it may be useful in figuring out how a VOR works and tracking courses in/out, but it would probably be more trouble than it's worth. Your CFI will teach you that in the airplane during cross country training anyway.

When you start instrument training, I would look to see if any simulators are available in your local area. You might want to try those out before buying anything.

On second thought, I just looked back on that thread. I forgot that it got a little out of hand towards the end, so grab some popcorn, take it with a grain of salt, and enjoy the read.
