I cant help myself. This comes up every now and then. Why do military people get X, Y, or Z?
Well, let me begin with a story. It is 2005, no one wanted to join the Army to go to Iraq. I was a part time soldier and they had this program where if you recruited someone they gave you $2000 bonus. So I hit the streets, I thought "Easy money". Boy was I wrong. No one could be bothered. They all wanted the college money, they all wanted the benefits but none of the ones I approached wanted to be away from Mama. None of them wanted to leave town. None of them wanted to be shot at. So all these things that us mil retirees are getting are well deserved because trust me when I say no one really wants to be in the Army for 20+yrs. The first deployment is for God, Country, and the American Way. The next ones where all about the benefits of staying which included X, Y, and Z. Cant wait for my retirement pay to be deposited in 5 days.
