It’s a combination of things...

CLT is the most livable base AA has. Mountains and Beaches within reasonable distance, mild climate, reasonable cost of living and taxes.

Tons of PSA and Piedmont flows live in the area, and legacy AA pilots still changing domiciles and equipment.

Even with significant CLT retirements in the next few years, I would expect CLT to remain a highly desirable more senior base.
