I would say there have been significant work rule changes that incentivize the company to use us more efficiently or pay us for the additional work hours.
If you read the union messages regarding this last contract, they explicitly mention how it fails to address hiring and retention. I hardly think we've sold our leverage down the river. The company will likely be back at the negotiating table to address those issues that are quickly approaching a critical point. It's their problem and we have every opportunity to capitalize on it!
