SLIs have the option to fly in either seat but they must bid at their seniority which is why they usually just fly as an FO.
FO SLIs in some situations can fly the line in either seat. However, they get the same (FO) pay either way.
Just as with FOs, CA SLIs can be hired into a seat their seniority cannot otherwise hold. On their fly months they are the category plug.
