If someone decides to attempt a hijacking and you’re the one up front, it’s still your choice at this point to what level you want to be personally prepared. It’s also still your choice whether or not you believe in deterrent effect of the program and want to make it effective by participating. Lowest cost government aviation security program out there.

So what are you more afraid of- the ffdo program as it currently exists or airport TSA and their screening record?

Well said Flownit...

Bummer for the unfortunate incident and pilot involved...Not the first and won't be the last until the drones take over...One need only look at the lost and found to see how easy it is to leave an item, even one as important/significant as this.

It was hard not to take 9/11 personally and this is the closest thing to being a modern day minuteman you can do if you volunteer.

Whenever I fly with someone who is I thank them b/c I know they've sacrificed their personal time off to train and maintain their qualifications.

THANKS AGAIN TO ALL THE PILOTS THAT DO THIS PROGRAM.

And as a courtesy I also make it a point of reminding them to pack up and have ALL their stuff before we leave the jet! It has helped on a few occasions....Try it sometime, I'm sure it will be most appreciated especially in light of recent events.
