Back on topic, just finished up my tax return today with our CPA.
For 2017, my effective tax rate was 12.9%.
For 2018 under the new tax law, I lost about 10k worth of deductions, but my effective tax rate was 10.8%.
Married, single income and an empty-nester. Overall, happy with the new law.
