It should go without saying, but will be said anyway. If you're losing your logbook in the hopes of gaining more hours, and you wouldn't be the first to do it, find another way.
I knew an individual at a 135 operation many moons ago who was a fast talker and rose quickly to be the assistant chief pilot. His girlfriend got all the good trips, made more than everyone else, and he curried favors. I happened to be across town one day, in a flight school, and saw his solo picture...from a year before.
We all showed up to an interview at the same time. A friend and I with honest flight time stayed. The assist pilot, his girlfriend, and a few others, didn't. He got caught; he couldn't bluff his way out of inexperience, and it bit him. Don't be that guy.
If it's really missing, put it back together with what you've got, and move on.
