Comparing Alaska to Continental/United is apples to oranges. UA has global presence out of EWR, whereas Alaska has what? Oh yeah.... codesharing partners. Let’s face it, United has nearly more daily flights out of EWR alone than we have out of all our west coast hubs combined!
I'm not comparing AS to UAL. I'm comparing the hysteria pilots are having over SWA entering the HI market to other episodes of hype when SWA entered other markets. Who care what SWA does. It's not our job to worry about that stuff. Let's see how it plays out over the next few years and make an assessment then. The last time I checked the paychecks were still cashing.
