I'm not comparing them to "that one time," I'm comparing them to "that EVERY time."
EVERY time I was awarded a line prior to JCTE it was between 16 and 18 days off, somewhere between 80 and 90hrs, with most trips being commutable on at least one side. EVERY time I asked for specific days off, I got them, without having to sacrifice commutability. This was as a junior line holder.
Now, the lines I can hold with my seniority are 12-15 days off, nothing but 6am reports and 1130pm releases with few exceptions, or back to back redeye lines. And they're all 75hrs, so I'm never home now between working and commuting, AND I took a pay cut!
I certainly don't expect you of all people to step outside of your cozy, senior and living in base, bubble to learn what life is now like for the rest of your airline since you mostly go out of your way to make it clear that you don't care about anyone else, but for the other people on here, I'd suggest that everyone takes whatever opportunity presents itself to learn about how bad the schedules are now vs how much better they COULD be.
