Dont believe the recruiters, it will be hell. Your choice ultimately and please do come back and let us know your decision.
Put it this way, your life for at least the next two years will essentially be. 4am RAP day 1, airport stby the next 4 days, a two leg commute home either your last day or on a day off. About 12-24 hours to actually be home and then repeat. This isn't even talking about all the hotels/crash pads you will need to buy in case you dont actually fly on airport stby, which is often the case. If you came in with the DEC program in the beginning or if it was continuing, I would say go for it. However, they have said it is ending this summer, so you could very well be the last or close to the last one. You have, at rough guess, 800 FO's that are ahead of you that will upgrade and perpetually move you down the Captain list.
Thanks for the brutally honest truth. I really appreciate.
I'll post what I decide and where I end up. Thanks again.
