A few days into his training as an A320 instructor he received a letter for an interview with Delta. If you’re qualified, I would think that getting to know the fleet Captains and SLI’s through working for DGS, would be a great way to get a job with Delta. It’ll take at least 3 years for your commitment to end and an opportunity to interview, but if the phone isn’t ringing now, it seems like a great alternative.
How was he committed to the DGS job? I've heard of iron-bound contracts in the ME3, but at Delta? Seems that getting hired by Delta would be a very good excuse to leave DGS earlier than originally planned.
